From our childhood playground days, we all remember what we heard about the green M&Ms. Now imagine that same verdant potency in a good-for-you, great-tasting, almost-better-than sex smoothie! Smooth and Sexy Smoothie
As I wrote in my book, it is no surprise to many of my clients that great sex starts in two places - the kitchen and the gym.
My individual clients, as well as handfuls of undernourished students and my professional colleagues, sometimes request my Smooth and Sexy recipe (and I usually forget an ingredient or two), so here it is. I have changed it over the years and now include the addition of pineapple - one of my favorite foods. By the way, if you are planning to undergo surgery (especially if you are one of my transgender clients in transition), ask your registered dietician if pineapple's bromelain might help reduce the bruising associated with post-surgical recovery. My Park Avenue clients swear by it for plastic surgery, and my beauty tip for you is this: save the peelings in a Rubbermaid container, and rub the flesh on your skin, wait a minute or two, rinse with cold water, and pat dry. INSTANT and natural "chemical" peel.
Note: I try to change the greens each day: parsley one day, kale the next, spinach the day after. Also, the darker lettuces (not limp, watery ice berg) work nicely. Because these supply you with so many vitamins and minerals, you will find yourself craving one of these each morning or at night before bed. I prefer spinach - my mom and dad tried this on my most recent visit to Midlothian, Virginia, and had NO idea that they were drinking spinach (the banana covers it up perfectly). The cover-up is truly amazing (though I can't say that banana can cover up kale - that is an acquired taste. Any tips, Dr. Southall?).
1) Load your Vita-Mix with the following and in this order (always fill your Vita-Mix with liquid and soft food first working to hard foods and ice last - except that I add water or juice as my very last ingredient, to fill in crevices and to raise ingredients off those magical blades).
2 medium organic apples, stem and seeds removed (or 2 organic pears; or 1 cup of organic grapes with seeds - yes Vita-Mix will pulverize those seeds, so you don't have to buy grape seed oil; or a combination of juicy fruits)
The flesh of one whole banana (organic prefered)
2 cups of organic greens (again, spinach, parsley, Romaine lettuce, or kale - which can sometimes be bitter)
1/4 of an organic lemon, seeds removed, skin on, or a peeled 1/4 of a non-organic lemon, seeds removed
1/7th of a pineapple (and leave the core in, because your Vita-Mix will cream that core, give you a great fiber boost, and all that good bromelain)
1 cup frozen organic peaches, apricots, mangoes, or watermelon
Ice to fill the container to the top (probably 2 cups). If you aren't wacthing calories or carbs, just use more frozen fruit. I do!
1/2 cup of chilled, filtered water (you might need more to reach the consistency you enjoy)
2) Seal the lid (please do this, so you don't paint your kitchen or office green).
3) Switch the machine to Variable speed 10 and then ramp it up to High. Blend it for 60-90 seconds until it is smooth, creamy, and frosty. If you need to add more water, do it little by little.
4) To clean (this is the best part), fill your Vita-Mix with four cups of warm water and add one drop of organic detergent. Follow the instructions in 2 and 3 above, but in 30-60 seconds, your machine will be clean.
If you want the machine to make it - the one with the small footprint yet does countless tasks, please read below. Order it here, and shipping is covered. That's right! Free shipping. That's a savings of $25 to US citizens and $35 for my Canadian friends.
This is the only product I endorse - and it's from a Rated G company - G for GREAT. By the way, more time in the kitchen and the gym can mean less time with a sex counselor.
