Gotham Alliance

In New York City tradition, consider this an internet version of a rent-controlled studio apartment that hosts the Gotham Alliance for Sexology Professionals (GASP!) - a dues-free working group and social outlet for future, present, and retired sexuality educators, counselors, therapists, writers, researchers, and policy makers. Most participants are professional or student members of AASECT, Quad-S, or SSTAR.

With food, drink, and chair/blanket in tow, participants for the next Sex in the Park Picnic will meet on 25 April 2009 at 1:30 PM at Bethesda Fountain in Central Park (look for a gentleman with small bouquet of green balloons). The rain date falls 24 hours later on 26 April 2009 at 1:30 PM. As is now the custom, please bring any current or future work that could benefit from the assembled, phenomenal minds and hearts.

Stay tuned for more to come, as we create professional events between now and the 2009 picnic.

For those of you who missed the last event, please see the following sentements, which provide a résumé for the day:

Hi, Eric!

I just wanted to be in touch to asy what a wonderful connector you are. Thank you so much for inviting me to this gathering over the
weekend. I made incredible connections with remarkable people! Not only did I get nine new ideas for my column, but I got great advice about grad school. This was invaluable, and I can't wait for our spring meeting! Even though I'm just starting to put my toe in this field, I can already recognize the need for communication between professionals outside of conferences. Lack of communication is often the toxin on the non-profit communities I've worked with over the years, and I believe that these kinds of gatherings keep both the people and the field alive. Go you!

See you soon!
